Keffer Cares Boulder Dash 5K & 5 Miler

Martin Marietta will host the Keffer Cares Boulder Dash 5K & 5 Miler on September 23, 2023. The quarry, just south of Sunset Road, provides a 14% incline as it descends 9/10 of a mile down before turning for a climb upward. Participants will receive a CRAFT branded Tech shirt and a Finisher's Medal!

Martin Marietta is committed to promoting environmental stewardship while producing quality aggregate materials for our customers. Martin Marietta is also committed to being a responsible neighbor and supporting the communities that are home to our operations. This event brings both of those objectives together. The 5K & 5 Miler is designed to showcase the quarry operation and plant equipment, while also testing your endurance to run in and out of the pit with a 300-foot elevation difference.

Packet Pick Up:

When: Friday ONLY September 22, 2023 OR Saturday morning at the Event

Where: All three Run For Your Life locations, FRIDAY ONLY!: 

Midtown: (901 S. Kings Drive) Friday 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Piper Glen: (6416 Rea Road) Friday 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
University: (1816 E. Arbors Drive) Friday 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Race Day starting at 6:30 AM 

Timing and Scoring:
The race will be chip timed using ChronoTrack timing equipment, and all participant results are based on the time the individual runner crosses the start and finish lines, respectively. Results will be available as you cross the finish line.  Just scan the QR code on your bibs or at the finish line!

Bag Check:
There is no bag check service for this event.

Event T-Shirts:
Register now to guarantee your shirt size!  Every participant will receive a short-sleeve CRAFT Brand shirt while supplies last. Shirts are ordered based on the sizes indicated during online registration. NO SWITCHING SIZES – NO EXCEPTIONS! You may switch sizes AFTER the race if we have leftover shirts. Kids Kilometer shirts are 100% cotton.

Awards & Age Group Divisions:
Age group and overall winners will be recognized at the post-event awards ceremony, to be held approximately 30 minutes after the first finisher. Please note, we do not ship unclaimed awards. 

Overall, Masters, 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.

Refunds and Transfers:
Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

Time Limit:
1 Hour 

Strollers or Baby Joggers and Dogs:
Hey, we love us some babies and dogs, too. However, for the safety of everyone participating, they are not allowed on the course.  

Medical Emergencies and First Aid:
Medical services at the start/finish line are provided by our partners at Novant Health. Should you experience an on-course emergency, alert an event volunteer and call 9-1-1. 

Water Stops and Porta-Potties:
Porta-Potties will also be available at the start/finish area. 

Inclement Weather Policy:
Events will be held rain or shine unless RunCharlotte in conjunction with our public safety and medical partners determine that conditions are unsafe. Cancellation due to inclement weather will not constitute a refund or transfer. Consistent with USA Track & Field protocols, RunCharlotte reserves the right to alter, cancel, or eliminate any or all portions of this event.
