About the event
The Benny Fund will sponsor the sixth annual Benny's Run & 5K Walk (5K & Kids Fun Run) on September 29, 2018. We welcome all runners, walkers, and volunteers of all ages!
The Benny Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving mental health and preventing suicide through advocacy and education. We strive to ensure mental health is spoken about openly at our dinner tables, in our schools, and as a community, while working to end stigma and silence. We do this through mental health advocacy campaigns, such as Benny's Run and #projectlove, and by providing funding for mental health and suicide prevention educational programs. Additionally, we award scholarships to high school students.
Benny's Run was established in 2013, in remembrance of Benjamin J. Neiweem. As an avid runner and outdoorsman, his family and friends want to celebrate his life, and support our community, through this run and fundraiser. All proceeds raised will go directly to The Benny Fund.
Race details: Please arrive (and park) at Sears Park (68 N. Main St., East Hampton, CT) between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM to pick up your shirt and bib. Shuttles will leave for the start line at 9:30 AM. The race will finish at Sears Park. You must take the shuttle to the start line.
Same day registration will be available 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Sears Park. However, we hope you can register online as soon as possible so that we can get a more accurate count for the shirts. We cannot guarantee a t-shirt for same day registration.

The kids fun run will occur just after 5K runners and walkers cross the finish line (est. 11:15am). We will split the races by age group and will give out prizes. Each child that is registered will receive a Benny's Run t-shirt and prize! The races will vary by age group. We welcome toddlers for a short 50 yard dash. The distances will gradually increase based on age and participation. The Fun Run will be held on a soft surface!
