About the event
About
Relentless Running Events brings to you a festival like endurance event that has runners competing on June 5th-6th for 6, 12 and 24 hours through the wooded trails of Montreat College's White Oak Estate nestled in Black Mountain, NC. Enjoy free tent camping during the event and live music Saturday afternoon! Awards for top finishers in each event as well as belt buckles for 100 mile finishers will be presented.
Packet pickup will be held at Vertical Runner on Friday afternoon and on-site from 7-9:30am on race morning.
Course
This is a 3.125 mile course that is a combination of wide grassy trails, narrow and wide wooded single track, asphalt (.5 miles), 2 fields, 3 wooden bridge crossings and an occasional dirt road. It is very dynamic and fun course. The path is firm, flat ground in most sections with roots covering much of the wooded single track. Most of the course is flat with soft rolling hills. There are two distinct uphill climbs (dirt road and wide wooded trail) and one distinct downhill (pavement). It is identical to last year’s course.
AID STATIONS AND SUPPORT: There are two aid stations. One is located in tent city next to the starting/finishing line. The second is a drink station located in the middle of the course – approximately 1.6 miles in. Additionally, the course runs around ‘tent city’- a large beautiful field where there is plenty of room for everyone to camp out right next to the course. This is right next to the start/finish line. So if you have friends or want to bring an additional aid station for yourself it is very convenient.
Amenities
RESTROOMS:
There are several restrooms near tent city. Additionally there will be several port-a-johns on the course. One will be at the second aid station approximately half way through the course and the others will be along the course at base camp.
CAMPING is FREE: If you are interested in camping the field (‘tent city’) will officially be open on Friday, June 4th at 5:00pm for you to set up and even scout out the course.
Refund Policy
There will be no transfer of entry fees or refunds for people that have chosen to defer from the canceled 2020 race. There will be no transfer of entry fees or refunds given to any new entrants after March 31, 2021. After that time, the Luis Escobar refund policy will be in place. He says it best:
“Finally – please remember that there will be NO refunds – NO transfers – NO exceptions. Do not ask for a refund or a transfer to another date or event – the answer is a polite, no. There will be no refunds even if your cat ate your homework or your dog ate your cat or your grandmother ran over your dog or your grandfather ran over your grandmother or you can’t find a babysitter or your girlfriend is cheating on you or you are cheating on your girlfriend or you get shot in the head during an unfortunate piñata incident, of if you become injured or if you don’t have time to train or if you contract poison oak, syphilis, herpes simplex, chapped lips, the heart break of psoriasis or any other communicable decease or you get bit by a lizard, you have a hangover or you got shot in the neck with a poison dart or your trailer gets destroyed by a tornado or you get deported or your daughter gets married, or any other reason – your registration will not, under any circumstances, no way, no how, ain’t gonna happen, be refunded. Comprende? Don’t like that idea? Don’t register.”
