In August every year, we begin our multi discipline event in the Save river bed, at the lowest point in Zimbabwe. Then we stay almost completely off tarred roads, (I think we do about 5km total on tar) and trek to the highest point in Zimbabwe at Mt Nyangani near Nyanga.
We start and end in Game Parks.
The difference is that this is a charity event to save the SPCAs of Zimbabwe.
We ask people to self fund, self support and raise sponsorship for their participation.
This money raised goes to saving the Society For The Protection of Animals in Zimbabwe. Its our largest fundraiser, and is organized entirely by SPCA Mutare volunteers.
Participants may camp under the stars on some nights, or may be hosted by rural Sports Clubs, or they may book themselves into a cottage where possible for a little luxury.
This year we have a number of people running the entire distance, but others walk it, horseride it, or cycle it.
