About the event
Boys Home of Virginia is excited to host our 8th Annual Boys Home Harvest Hustle 5K, 10K, and half-marathon! Each year this event has grown bigger and better and we are certain that 2024 will be no exception.
RACE DESCRIPTION
All races start and end at the Intervale Trailhead of the Jackson River Scenic Trail, in Covington, VA. The USATF-certified course has a smooth crushed gravel surface and is mostly flat, with some small hills. The course follows an old railroad bed of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, winding along the Jackson River through the scenic Alleghany Highlands. You are welcome to run or walk at your own pace; please be aware that aid stations will close at noon.
Drive-thru packet pick-up will be from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Friday, November 1st at Boys Home of Virginia, 414 Boys Home Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
On-site packet pick-up the day of the race (Saturday, November 1st) will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. There will be separate tables for each race, as well as another table for same day registrations. 9:30 a.m. - Half-Marathon begins 9:45 a.m. - 10K begins10:00 a.m. - 5K begins AWARDS All finishers receive a commemorative finisher's medal.
Top three finishers male and female overall and top three male and female in each age category will receive awards. Our age categories are: 6-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
The awards ceremony for each race will begin approximately 30 minutes after the top three men and women racers cross the finish line.
Please note: Water/aid Stations will be available at the 5K, 10K and Half-marathon turn-arounds. Pre & post-race snacks and drinks will be available in the registration area for all participants. A food truck will be available selling hot drinks and food for both participants and spectators. Seating is limited - please feel free to bring chairs. Local EMS will be on site. Proceeds from the race will benefit Boys Home of Virginia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education, housing, and basic living expenses for young men whose lives have been negatively impacted by poverty or family instability.
