About the event

Allegheny Trailrunners' Camp Anderson Endurance Shindig

The Allegheny Trailrunners' Camp Anderson Endurance Shindig is coming to Camp Anderson near Bald Eagle, PA between State College and Altoona, PA and minutes from I-99 — in the heart of The Alleghenies on July 10th, 2021.

What is an Endurance Shindig?

Camp Anderson Endurance Shindig is a weekend-long celebration of trail running and the trail running community and camaraderie. (And after 2020, isn’t that what we need?)

Registration fee is all-inclusive! Camping, Food, Beer, Swag, and more is included.

Camp Anderson opens at 6pm on Friday! Camp Anderson has seven regular campsites with each having a capacity ranging from 14 to 48 while a pavilion available at the pond with a capacity of 64. Explore the 92 acres, fish at the pond or along the stocked trout stream, or build a fire and talk about your future running plans.

The main event is Saturday with three endurance runs of 3, 6 and 12 hours beginning at 6am for the 6 and 12 hour events and 9am for the 3 hour event on our 2 mile course — or run it as a relay. Run during the allotted time or as little as you want… it is up to you! It is also a great opportunity to train for an upcoming ultramarathon like Eastern States 100, Pine Creek Challenge, Black Forest Ultra and more!

“It’s a favorite event! 6 hour on my feet, another 6 hours socializing and cheering others on!” – Mary D.

We will have a full-stocked aid station – or – you can put up your own aid station anywhere on the course. There is a fully equipped, modern kitchen on-site so meals are professionally prepared and included with registration. In addition, the kitchen will be making specialty items that you would not normally find at an aid station and will serve throughout the day.

Standing Stone Coffee Company is returning this year to provide coffee and beer from Levity Brewing Company! Again, the food and beverages are included with the registration as well as a handful of swag! In 2019, we included a technical tee, an insulated lunch cooler, glassware, cooling towels and a sticker pending on the mileage you achieved during the day.

Then Saturday evening, you are welcome to spend another night camping and celebrating with new and old friends that you participated alongside throughout the day. Lastly, a shower-house is available on-site.

NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION
NO DEFERRALS OR BIB TRANSFERS.
NO PETS.

Also, last year at the virtual event, two runners attempted a 24-hour challenge. If anyone is interested in doing a 18, 24 or 36-hour challenge, please PM me or send me an email at [email protected]

The camp was purchased and is now run by the Camp Anderson Corporation, a private nonprofit. Camp Anderson is a beautiful resource and ask for your help to keep it open to the public! Required repairs, upkeep, and improvements are on-going to keep Camp Anderson a premier experience.
