Claiborne Farm Runhappy 5K Run/Walk

Join us for the 6th Annual Runhappy 5K and 2.5K at Claiborne Farm! Run on the rolling hills of the Bluegrass with the beautiful Thoroughbreds in Horse Country! This year's event is IN PERSON with no virtual option.

The race is named after current Claiborne Farm stallion, Runhappy, who retired to stud in 2017. Runhappy received the accolades of Eclipse Champion Sprinter and Eclipse Champion 3-year-old in 2015. He is a three-time Grade 1 winning millionaire who was undefeated 7 for 7 in sprinting competition including the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Sprint and the Grade 1 King's Bishop.

In addition to honoring Runhappy this year, we will also be celebrating Secretariat. This year marks fifty years since the 1973 Triple Crown champion arrived at Claiborne Farm to start his breeding career. In honor of “Big Red’s” profound impact on Bourbon County tourism, we will be donating all proceeds from this year’s event to The Secretariat Park Foundation. This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was established in 2022 with the mission to honor the life of Secretariat and educate others about one of the greatest sports figures of all time by building a commemorative park in Paris, Kentucky – the very place he resided. The park is on target for a November 2023 grand opening, complete with a beautiful life size bronze statue and educational information about the his life, the Thoroughbred industry, and Bourbon County as a whole.
