Directed by Twin City Track Club, the Cook Medical Beat the Heat is one of the most popular races in North Carolina. It has been selected multiple time by Endurance Magazine as the best 5K in Triad NC and was featured in Running Journal magazine as the #1 “Under the Radar” race in the South. Beat the Heat is a charity event with proceeds going to local non-profits that support health and fitness in the community.

The evening start time and festive atmosphere make the event popular for all levels of runners. Each year, close to 100 participants run their very first 5K at Beat the Heat. And more than 50 elite runners will compete in the NC USATF 5K Championship. The races will start and finish near Wake Forest’s BB&T Field and Bridger Field House beginning with the Fun Run at 6:30pm. Stick around after the race for complimentary pizza, subs, and beer (for runners and volunteers only).  You can sign up as an individual or create your own social team to run. Sign up now and be part of the fun!

Race registration includes a custom designed technical shirt by Champion. Race shirts will be available for the first 750 people that register.  Men and Women styles available in sizes Small through Extra Large.

Bib names will be printed on the bibs of 5K runners that register on or before June 24.  First names will be printed above your bib number.  Contact the race if you prefer a name different than your registration first name.

Race Day Pricing
     5K Race Fee:  $40 paid online by credit card (plus a $3 service fee)
                             $45 paid by cash or check
                             (both prices less $5 with no shirt)
     Fun Run Fee:  $5 without a shirt; $10 with a shirt
