Then through a cow shed and further by a tunnel under the N201 road and ends up in the polder of .......Waverveen. On the left hand side a view on the Amsterdam Johan Cruijff Arena, the ‘house’of football club Ajax. Just when it might gets boring after 36 km’s, you will get “the cream on the cake”. The nature reserve The Botshol shows up. 2.5 km’s on grass paths and some bridges along a small river back toAbcoude, via the tunnel under the A2 highway. The route is now close to the finish line. This is a lovely marathon in the countryside of the Netherlands very close to Amsterdam. This marathon is showing you beautiful sceneries while running over asphalt, gravel, meadows and through an astonishing natural reserve. As icing on the cake you get to run through a cowshed. The well organized marathon has more then enough care posts with a diversity of drinks and food. In the villages which you run through an enthusiastic crowd cheers for you. It is certainly not a crowded marathon. After the finish soup, cottage cheese, peanuts and more are lined up. On Sunday the 17th of November 2019 we had great weather which made the route even more beautiful. I would say this is a marathon which fits to a list of a runner who likes to run small marathons in amazing locations.

The route is really amazing and shows you a beautiful part of the community de Ronde Venen. Next to the marathon it is also possible to do it as a duo-marathon. This is nice because it means that often people are standing next to the route to change from bike to running.

A lot of variation in the course. Meadows, green house, lake. Harder than only road, but I still ran a pb.

Beautiful scenery, lovely weather on the day we ran, great supporters, delicious pannekoek, flat and fast course, and some trail running thrown in!
