The route was stunning and had various terreins. Amazing to see so many people from so many different countries and cultures. The route was extremely well marked and the aid stations were perfectly placed, stocked, and the volunteers were so helpful and encouraging. The town is also great for drinks and eating after the run. Everything is easy to locate and well situated and you can take a shower after the race. Registration was so easy. 2 min and we were done! Everything was also well explained and clearly communicated. Will definitely be returning again!

It is actually 3 km longer and about 3800m elevation. It entailed cllimbing rocky mountain, to running through forestry, sliding down snow, and summiting a ski slope. It is a lot of fun to see all the different scenes and does not take too long if you want something more challenging than the 22km but more achievable than the 70km, as the 70km starts at 00:00 am, and the 55km starts at 05:00 am which is more convenient. The last 8km is just downhill so prepare for some hurting there! But nonetheless, best day out in the dolomites! Best race ever!

With Marco Olmo's Tips, Running the DXT 2016 will be easier

24 Feb, 2016 (Wed)

The renowned athlete from Piemonte, the ultra-trail international myth, will be available to provide information and advice to participants of the event in the Val di Zoldo that will run on 10-12 June this year. Registrations for the DXT reach big numbers! The 750 threshold has been exceeded. Val di Zoldo (Belluno) Italy – Amongst others, Marco Olmo will be present at the fourth edition of the “Dolomiti Extreme Trail”, the running event that is set in the Val di Zoldo landscape, in the Dolomiti of the Belluno province, UNESCO world heritage. The athlete from Piemonte, born 1948, is one of the symbols of international ultra-trail running. Amongst his many feats, he has a double win with the Ultra trail du Mont Blanc (2006 e 2007), many victories at the Grand Raid du Cro Magnon, podiums at the Marathon des Sables, and numerous other adventures at varying altitudes. Olmo will be present during the days of the race, not participating but on the sidelines. He will be available to the participants and the aficionados to share his experiences. In particular, on the 9th in the afternoon but also on the morning of the 10, he will participate in 2 of the programmed collective training sessions. On the evening of the 9th, he will present to an audience one of his achievements, at the Dont Cinema. Whilst, on the Friday afternoon, he will take part in the conference debate that will take place at the arrival point in Pieve, with the top runners of the 2016 edition of the DXT. Meanwhile, registrations for the DXT continue. The race is one that in a few years has managed to grow both technically and in terms of number of participants. This year, aside from the 2015 distances available (23 and 53 kms), the event will also offer a 103km route (7.150 metres of positive gradient change, 7.060 metres of negative gradient change). Of all the participants registered so far (over the 750 threshold), 40% are foreigners. «We are approaching the 800 registrations» explained the organisers. «It is a great achievement but we don’t want to stop here. A comforting statistic is that of the foreign participation. At the moment, 35 countries are being represented.».

Press Release

The 4th edition of the Dolomiti Extreme Trail will take place on June 11th 2016

17 Dec, 2015 (Thu)

Credit : Dolomiti Extreme Trail From the 28th November this year, it has been possible to register for the fourth edition of the “Dolomiti Extreme Trail”, the running event set in the Val di Zoldo, in Italy, in the Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage. The event is organised by the Atletica Zoldo, together with other support groups, and will be held on 10, 11 & 12 June 2016. This year, the event will be even more extreme… with regards to the past: besides the 23km (D+1000m) and 53km (D+3800m) routes, during the spring of next year, athletes will be able to choose a third trail, one of 103km in distance, with a positive gradient change of 7150 metres and 7060 metres of negative gradient change, and with 16 rest points during the run. This third and new route, sets off and finishes in Forno di Zoldo, as do the shorter two routes. However, the third trail reaches a wild and relatively untouched area within the National Park of the Dolomites of Belluno: the Spiz di Mezzodi and the Val Pramper. It will meet the 53km trail close to the Duran Pass, running at the base of the Mount Civetta, to reach Forcella Staulanza. From here, rather than continue towards the Sas de Formedal and Monte Punta, locations that strongly characterised the first three editions of the Trail, it will head off towards the Rifugio Venezia, at the base of the Mount Pelmo. It will then meander down to Zoppe di Cadore to then rise again towards the Monte Rite, the 360 degrees “balcony” on the Dolomites. It is here that Reinhold Messner created one of his “museums in the clouds”. The trail then speeds downhill towards Forcella Cibiana and then again via the “tooth” of Forcella de Le Calade, and Rifugio Bosconero, where a further downhill route will bring the athlete to the final destination of Pieve, beside the San Floriano church, jewel of the romanic-gothic period. In order to be able to take part in the 103km race, any athlete must have at least 2 points from a qualifying UTMB race, attained between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2015.
