Courses will follow the UPPER LOOP trail. Three aid stations will be stocked with water, Hammer Nutrition Products, pretzels, fruit and some kind of salty snacks!

Both distances will begin together just up the road from registration / finish area. The first and last .75 mile will be on Route 284 (paved). Runners will enter the FIRE ROAD (1) to the left for approx. 1.5 miles and turn right onto Upper Loop Trail (2). Runners follow WHITE BLAZE markings of Upper Loop trail approx. 7 miles to crossing at Rt. 284 (3). Runners cross bridge and continue on Upper Loop trail 3 miles back to Rt. 284 (4). Half Marathon runners turn left to FINISH on Rt. 284. 50K runners complete a second loop beginning at Fire Road circling back to (4) – 50K runners will then reverse the 3 miles back to (3), return to (4) to cover the additional 6 miles before turning left to FINISH on Rt. 284. Each loop has three small (ankle deep) stream crossings - rain will determine how high water gets!

Time Cut offs – We had not posted time cut-offs but do feel we need to have some limit to ensure safety and not over-burden Park officials and volunteers. We are going to “loosely” hold 50K runners to a 20 minute-per-mile limit – This means 4 hours at first passing of aid station #3 at 12.25 miles & 8 hours at same point next loop. If you have not reached aid station #3 by these times, you will be asked to head back or receive a ride back to finish area. Final 50K runners completed entire course in just over 8 hours in the past.
