Festivus For The Rest Of Us 5k - New Florence

Come celebrate Festivus with the rest of us while completing an awesome 5k course. 

All proceeds go directly to the New Florence Volunteer Fire Company.

This is the old New Florence Pride in the Valley 5k course that used to be held years ago in the summer. The previous race director who did a outstanding job moved away. I'm now stepping up, taking it over rebranding it and putting a awesome twist on it. That way we can celebrate the best holiday there is FESTIVUS.  Nowhere else will you find such a great event and such a fun time while cebrating the most underappreciated holiday. In my eyes it's the absolute best.

Festivus 5k packet pickup will be at the New Florence Firehall morning of the race starting at 9 am. Registration will close at 9:45 am.

Awards 5k : Top 3 M & F overall, top 3 in each age group: 10 and under, 11-14,15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-44, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+
Top 3 only for walk
Top 3 only for ruck division
(no duplications, awards will not be mailed) 

*children 10 and under must run race under their own power to be eligible for age group awards. Having been pushed on a stroller will not qualify.  

Time limit is 1 hour 15 minutes so a 24:08 pace

11:15 race ends (must be across mats by 11:15 to be included in results)
11:20 awards ceremony

What included in the race: custom t-shirt if preregistered by Decemeber 5th at 11:59pm, No Exceptions, custom race bib, chip timing with results posted online. Snacks after the race as well.

RACE ROUTE

Race starts right in front of the former New Florence ambulance garage which is right beside the firehall. We will run up a block make a left head towards the New Florence Manor. Then quickly jumping on route 711 for about a tenth of a mile before hitting Boswell road. From there you run out towards the state gamelands running by the Laurel Hill Iron Furnace before turning around. From there you run back a couple tenths the same way you just came untill you Pick up Furnace lane and head back towards town. Then you don’t have to make any turns for almost a mile when you make a turn on Mulberry Street run a couple blocks down to 15th street where you turn left and finish out the last tenthish mile the same tenthish mile how you started, finishing back in front of the old ambulance garage. 

We will have someone stopping traffic as you cross 711. Also to slow traffic down the tenth of a mile you are on 711 before hitting Boswell road. It’s not a closed course but traffic is very minimal. We do ask you to be cautious and be aware of your surroundings. 

RULES
We ask that no pets be brought on the course. This is for safety and insurance reasons. 
Headphones are allowed, we ask you to please be courteous to fellow runners and that you listen to your audio at a reasonable volume so you can hear other runners coming or calling out if they are passing you. Also so you can hear those directing traffic or traffic coming. If you are pushing a stroller please be aware of runners and vehicles give them the right away.
We will do our best to make sure the roads are in good condition for the race, being a December race be prepared and dress appropriately. 

RUCK DIVISION
This is now an official GoRuck event. We added the ruck Division for those who wish to Ruck the course and still want a shot at a top 3 award or to earn a GoRuck patch. We will give out awards to top 3 male and top 3 females who cross the finish line with a ruck on. The requirements are to have at least 20lbs for males and 10lbs for females. Must finish within the 1:15 timeframe

WALK DIVISION
We will be awarding the top 3 overall male and top 3 overall females who are in the walk division. You must also finish within the 1:15 time frame. There is no running allowed. You will be disqualified if caught running and you signed up for the walk. 

PARKING
Parking will be at the New Florence Firehall, additional parking will be available at the New Florence Playground which is 50 yards away, the far end of the playground which is 150 yards away, along the main street of New Florence. Please DO NOT PARK in any business parking lot, or block anyone’s driveway. We are not responsible if you get towed for doing that.

Shirt Policy
To receive a shirt registration must be complete by December 5th at 11:59pm no exceptions. Extras will not be ordered. After the race, shirts of runners that did not show up will be given to those runners that signed up race day. No shirts will be ordered after the race.  No shirts or swag will be mailed.

Refund/Cancellation
We do not offer refunds, cancellations or transfer at this ttime. This event will go on no matter the weather.
