***Please note the 2023 inaugural race happened in June and that is why the ranch is browning in the pics. Our goal has always been to produce this event in April as it will occur from now on. See you in 2024.

6/5/23  UPDATES: How to get their update. Plug "GRUPE RANCH AIRPORT" into your navigation or map app. But, first, please print out this page so that you have written directions. As I keep pushing races into the mountains, mobile reception gets worse and so does your app.

NO FIRES OR SMOKING: If you need to get your mental groove on, please use edibles. No flame allowed. :-)

ULTRA CREEK CROSSINGS: There are several and all avoidable.

Reminder about Cup-Free Racing: Reminder that we are cup-free. Please bring a portable cup or handheld water bottle, or hydration pack to refill at aid stations.

PARKING: Parking is free. Please do not park on the edge of the airstrip. To clarify, the edge is the asphalt meeting the sandstone base along side of the asphalt airstrip. If your tires turn or ride along the edge, then the asphalt may be damaged. Please be careful.

Welcome to the inaugural G-Bar Ranch Ultra & Trail 1/2 Marathon, featuring a 29 mile Ultramarathon and Half Marathon on the Grupe Family Ranch. The Grupe family has offered their 9,000 acres of private property to Pacific Coast Trail Runs so that our trail running community can enjoy a new place to run. G-Bar Ranch is named after the "Livestock Brand" for this ranch, and not named after Greg your race director who likes to serve open bars at his events. It's the second oldest livestock brand in California. The history for this property is rich in cattle ranching, hunting, and outdoor education. Locals will tell you that they probably worked on the ranch as a teenager or young adult. The ranch also is home to the Grupe Ranch Airport. So, if you have a plane that can land on a half-mile runway, we would be happy to have you with permissions - Grupe Ranch Airport 5CLO

Your hosts for the weekend: Mark Grupe & Family. Greg Lanctot, Jennifer-Lopez Lanctot, Yaku Moton-Spruill & family, and Steve "Captain" Prior.

The Grupe Family History

The Grupe family has played an important role in the growth of Northern California since the Gold Rush. John Carsten Grupe came to California in search of gold in 1849. When mining proved less than lucrative, John established a successful freight line from Stockton to the Mother Lode. A portion of his farm, located in Linden and purchased in 1853, is still owned by Phyllis and Fritz Grupe. Since 1966, The Grupe Company has built award-winning single family communities. The company has created 12 master-planned communities and more than 50,000 homes in 35 cities nationwide.

Since its beginnings, the Company has demonstrated an extraordinary sensitivity for environmental concerns. The Grupe companies take great pride in creating environments throughout the United States in which nature and people can flourish together.

RACE DAY EXPERIENCE!

Happy Tuesday, Entrants!

Congratulations to all 18 of you. You made a sound decision without vision of this race beyond your credit card. We are thankful for the few of you and look forward to you having a great day with Pacific Coast Trail Runs. Sounds like Age Group awards for everyone. After some withdrawals, we now have a nice and cozy race, if it already wasn't cozy enough :-). We may get some last minute entrants as registration closes Thursday at 11:59pm. Thank you all for entering this race. You know I like to make things complex. We are taking big risks to create new races away from the suburbs. This is our PCTR 5.0 vision... you all travel and experience new courses. This will be memorable and so will all the new races we produce for you.

Thank you all!

Greg, Jenny, Yaku, and Steve

THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO IS PRINT THIS PAGE, or screen shot it and save to photos. Why? Well, mobile reception is challenging as you near the event, and we would hate for you to miss the start of the event.

Why? Well, we mowed, brushed, trimmed and there are stickers that will bounce up in to your socks and shoes. There is no bush whacking! The Orange Loop is about 50% on cut grass from overgrown trails from the extreme winter. Very freaking cool loop. Please note that we were able to get the trail mowed on on the Balancing Rock Loop and this is why we opened up the loop.Between Mile 7 & 8 you will have a "self-service Ice Water Station" At 9am or 10am for some of you this is simply a place to refill to get you to the next aid station.Getting volunteers is very challenging for events that require excessive travel. Shall anyone in your family want to volunteer, then  you or they can earn credits for another race.Steven's Pond Aid Station - Here you will see PCTR partner we call The Captain. His name is Steve. The aid station however, is named after the pond about 200 yards away.At this Full Service Aid Station you can leave your pack and run up to grab your bracelet past the McPherson Barn and up at the Tree Mail Box about 1.5 miles up. Put one on, continue around the eyelet loop and back to Steve. Then you are on your way to the Airstrip. Please note we moved the aid stations since last week. All for your enjoyment :-)After the Airstrip 5CLO A/S (formerly known as Runway 5CLO), you will run the Pink Loop.Super easy to follow and you may want to run down 100 yards to the river to grab a selfie. You will return to the 5CLO A/S and then head back down the runway to run the Blue Loop. The blue loop will feature an aid station after 4.7 miles on freshly scraped trail. Grab your camera as the 360 degree views atop Horsecamp Mountain will be amazing. Look east for the crests of Yosemite. The finish is the best.
