Healthy Heroes' Super Fun Run

The Healthy Heroes Fun Run and Carnival is a family-friendly event that benefits Sequoia Elementary’s Physical Education Program. The 3.3 mile fun run/walk is open to the public and begins at Sequoia Elementary, 277 Boyd Rd., Pleasant Hill. The route will be partially on city streets and partially on trails. 

All participants are encouraged to dress up! Whether it be as your favorite superhero, a hero from a book, Marvel character, Star Wars character, or a character you made up... the more costumes, the better! Who doesn’t want to go for a nice morning run in a cape? I can’t think of anyone! Come join in the fun!

Prizes will be awarded for the best individual costume, the most unique costume, and the best group costume! Winners will be announced at the carnival.

Last year's carnival was so much fun, and we only expect this year's to be even better! We are looking forward to a great time! The carnival begins at 10am as well, so those younger siblings who don’t want to participate in the fun run will have some fun activities to choose from at school. The carnival will have games, raffles, prizes, and food trucks! Don’t miss out on your chance to soak friends and staff in the Big Splash booth! The carnival is free to attend. It will be open to the public from 10am-2pm.

The goal of the fun run and carnival is to raise funds for our Physical Education program. Due to budget cuts, our school has little funds to purchase equipment such as balls, jump ropes, baseball bats and bases, kick balls, hockey sticks and pucks, and many other items.
Providing students an opportunity to play organized games helps them outside as well as inside the classroom. During PE, students learn important skills about teamwork, setting goals, improving hand-eye coordination, settling disagreements in a peaceful manner, and building confidence. It also offers them the opportunity to try out all different sports that they may otherwise never get a chance to learn. PE plays an important part in developing well-rounded children.
