A 5K Run/Walk to support people who are Deaf-Blind

Please join us, RAIN or SHINE, for a 5K Run/Walk through beautiful Sands Point, Long Island, as we raise funds for programs and services that benefit people who have a combined vision and hearing loss.

WALKERS/RUNNERS:

Individuals of all ages and disabilities are welcome to participate. Participants under 18 years of age must
have waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Check-in & Registration:  7:45 - 9:00 am
Official Start:                     9:30 am

The funds raised by Helen’s Run/Walk 2020 will be dedicated to providing Support Service Providers (SSPs) for staff and students at HKNC.   SSPs  are specially trained individuals who provide visual and auditory information, human guide support and access to communication for people who are deaf-blind which enables them to actively participate in everyday life, access their environments and make informed decisions.  Examples of SSP services include providing information to deaf-blind teachers about what a student is doing during class or providing access to transportation, human guide support and environmental information when attending a conference.  Having an SSP empowers deaf-blind individuals to live, work and thrive in their community of choice.

  HKNC, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization,  is a national leader in services for people who have a combined vision and hearing loss.  With your sponsorship, HKNC will continue to offer a rich variety of innovative programs and services for people who are deaf-blind as they seek to attain their own definition of success and independence.

Award Categories: Awards to the first overall male and female finisher, first three male and female finishers in each age category: 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Plus: An award will be given to the first physically challenged male and female finishers, and to the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place finisher who is deaf-blind.

Registration includes one free T-shirt (pre-registered; SAME DAY not guaranteed) and post refreshments.

Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
