Ice Trail Tarentaise Mizuno-Val d'Isère

Credit : www.photossports.com The 5th edition of the Ice Trail Tarentaise Mizuno-Val d’Isère will take place during the weekend of July 11-12th 2015. Part of the Sky Runner World Series, the ITT is the highest trail in Europe where the best trail runners of the world gather each year. Last year, the race was won by François D’Haene (see: Race record for François d’Haene at Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc 2014) The course is difficult, technical but gorgeous. It sometimes turns into mountaineering and the altitude make it really hard to get to the finish line. Getting the finisher’s T-shirt is a real challenge. In 2015, the organizers have set up a new race : §race_link(23982) (18 km/ 1,300m of elevation gain). The runners can now choose between 3 races (§race_link(9652) (65 km), §race_link(9653) (32 km), and §race_link(23982). The walkers can take part in §race_link(9654) (13 km). Credit : Ian Corless In spite of the difficult weather conditions, French François d’Haene won the race in 7:37:09. François had finished 2nd last year and had won the race in 2012. Fabien Antolinos finished in 07:55:20, and Tom Owens took the third position with a time of 08:01:05. Unfortunately, Luis Alberto Hernando had to drop in later stages of the race. Emelie Forsberg dominated the women’s from start to finish. She crossed the finish line with a time of 09:24:09. The second place went to Alessandra Carlini (09:41:16) and the third to Maud Gobert (09:41:22). Francesca Canepa dropped early in the race due to a bad fall. 319 runners finished the race.
