It was my first half marathon. The spirit and vibe were beautiful. Lots of runners, music all the way and the beatifull views of Jerusalem include the old city. The feelings when seeing the Israeli flags everywhere in such a difficult time was powerfull.

This race is epic for a number of reasons. I had wanted to visit Jerusalem for some time and the race provided a great excuse to do so. It is a tough tough race, with lots of hills. I struggled round the half marathon, but probably more down to my training than the course. The atmosphere is great, the views stunning, definitely some goosebumps with the sun shining on the city and passing through some magical parts of the city. Certainly a bucket list race and one I would recommend to all, but do your hill training! The expo is decent but quite a way out of the city (or it was back in 2017 when I ran).

I ran the half marathon in 2017. It was seriously tough, but beautiful. It is hilly and it takes its toll, but the route is inspiring and certainly has a lot to take in. A great race!

The half marathon is very hard. It is extermely hilly but it is a nice experience to run in Jerusalem. It starts on Friday very early. The expo is very boring and the food given at the finish line is poor. However it is still a nice race to run.

The Jerusalem marathon takes in both the modern and the ancient city of Jerusalem. Starting right next to the Knesset, Israel's parliament and the renowned Israel Museum, the route takes in a circuit of both campuses of Hebrew University, goes past the Foreign Ministry, the Supreme Court and the residence of the President. Runners enter the historic Old City by the Jaffa Gate, running past David's Citadel, through the Armenian Quarter and out of the Zion Gate at the entrance to the Jewish Quarter. At approximately kilometre 31 - 32 runners head out and back on the Sherover Promenade which offers a panoramic view of the Holy Basin with the Dome of the Rock and the restored Hurva Synagogue easily visible. The route is hilly including a short but, given it's context in the race, somewhat murderous climb at roughly kilometer 39. Be prepared for lots of ups and downs! I have also done the half marathon twice which takes in most of the main tourist sites mentioned above and is also quite a hilly race. The crowd is very patchy - not much support for long sections of the route which is pretty disappointing.

Despite being a junior jogger, I believe this must be one of the most epic courses. 10K and longer distances take you also to the old town. It is quite a hilly course and at least on a 10K track the most difficult rises are in the second half. Of course once you finish, satisfaction is that much higher :-)

Ein wunderbarer Lauf durch die Geschichte, durch das Zions Gate, die Yaffa Street entlang. wunderbare Stimmung, mehr als 40.000 Läufer, und ich war dabei.

This was the most moving experience of my life. Running through the old city was breathtaking and the patriotism gave me goosebumps.
