Packet Pickup Info

Packet Pickup will run during the following times out of John's Run/Walk Shop's Chevy Chase location (317 S Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY 40502):

May 7th from 4-7 PMMay 8th through May 30th during regular shop hours (M-F 10 AM - 7 PM, Sat 10 AM - 6 PM, Sun 11 AM - 5 PM) 

For participants who opted to have their packet shipped, we will begin to process them on May 10th. Please allow 5 business days for us to process and send all packets. If you haven't seen your packet show up by May 19th, please get in touch.

Results Submission Info

Run your virtual 8k (4.97 miles) any time from May 8th until May16th! You can use a tracking app on your phone, a GPS watch, or mapping service (such as MapMyRun or OnTheGoMap) to establish an accurate course for your run. You are also welcome to run/walk on a treadmill.  

Once you have completed your race, click here to submit your virtual results. The window to submit results is open from May 8th at 12:01 AM until May16th at 11:59 PM. Click on the "Submit Results" button at the top right of the page. Search for your name or input your registration email in birthday. Either submit your results manually or upload an activity file (.gpx, etc) to the page. Click submit and your results are saved! If you have any photos to share with us from your race be sure to submit them when promted as well! We'd love to see where race day took you. 

Join us this May to honor and commemorate John Sensenig’s 40+ years of service to the local running community - Virtual Style! While we were hoping to host one of our favorite races in person this spring, it turns out our traditional course at the Horse Park is currently being used as a vaccination site (which we think is aweseome!). So, the 2021 edition of the race will be entirely virtual meaning you can run your race any place and any time from Saturday, May 8th to Sunday, May16th.

You get to make your own starting line and starting time, and it’s infinitely more convenient to be able to run from (or even in!) your own home. All you have to do at the end is upload your results! Participants will receive a long sleeve Brooks technical running shirt (in your choice of men’s or women’s sizing) with the "John’s Run Local 8k - Virtual Edition" logo, a logo'd coffee mug, and 6 oz of the finest locally roasted coffee from Magic Beans Coffee Roasters. 

John has been a fixture in the local running and walking community since opening his first local running shop in 1977. Year-in and year-out, John and the Run/Walk Shop has been at the forefront of creating a lively and local running/walking family. After a lifetime of service and as John continues to step back from the day-to-day running of the shop, John’s Run Local 8k has grown from the desire to celebrate all he has given to the local Lexington and Central Kentucky community. We can't wait to celebrate with you virtually and can't wait to be back racing with you in person next year!
