K9 Blocker Memorial Fun Run-Walk

The K9 Blocker Memorial Fun Run is an easy loop course covering just over 5K on the Fred Meijer Rail Trail and the City of Ionia River trail. The race starts and ends on the trail near the intersection of Adams St & Steele St in Ionia.   Participants are encouraged to bring their K9 pal along for the run/walk.  There is a turn off for those wanting a bit shorter route that is closer to 2 miles in length.  The race is not timed.

All proceeds from this event go to the City of Ionia Department of Public Safety K9 program.

Blocker was the departments first K9 officer and served for just over 7 years with his handler PSO Skorka.  Sadly, Blocker passed away in January 2022 after a brief illness leaving all who knew and loved him heartbroken.  It is in his memory that this event was organized to assist in off setting costs of acquiring another K9 for the department and the ongoing expenses to operate the program.
