About the event
The Kabaka Birthday Run, an annual event organized by the Buganda Kingdom, takes place the weekend before the King's birthday (13th April), with proceeds from the run in 2020-2022 going towards fighting HIV/AIDS in Uganda. The goal of the run is to set a new African record of 60,000 runners, and it offers visitors a chance to experience the culture of Buganda and explore other parts of Uganda. The event is sponsored by Airtel Uganda (platinum), DFCU Bank, CBS FM, BBS TV, Bukedde, Olwendo Water and Majestic Brands.
