About the event
This is the 34th annual edition of the Loudoun Street Mile which traverses Loudoun Street in Historic Old Town Winchester, Virginia. This year's race will again serve as the Collegiate Running Association Championship race.
COVID-19 UPDATE: Please note that we made many changes to last year's race in order to comply with COVID regulations. We will do the same this year in an effort to insure another safe event. However, if you feel uncomfortable in a 'live' event of this size, or have any COVID symptoms, please do not attend. We will defer your entry to next year.
2021 FORMAT: At this time, the race will now be run in waves of approximately 25 runners each. We hope to increase the waves to groups of 50. This is will be dependent on Covid19 regulations that are in place as of race day.
The Top 25 men will run first at 8:30, followed by the Top 25 women at 8:40 The 3rd wave will be the next fastest times. We will continue to fill the waves based on entry time. The last few waves will random to allow families to run together. See full schedule below. Each wave will start 10 minutes after the preceding wave.
THERE IS ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE RACE COULD BE MOVED TO A NEW DATE OR CANCELLED ALTOGETHER DUE TO COVID19 MANDATES. Please keep this in mind when you sign up. We will not give refunds this year but will instead defer your entry to next year.
There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION! You must enter the race by 5:00 PM on Sunday May 30th in order to compete. This will allow us time to organize the waves.
Tee shirts only to the first 150 registrants who wish to purchase one.
There will be NO Awards ceremony or food table at the conclusion of the race. We kindly ask that as you finish the race, proceed down Loudoun Street and do not loiter on the north end of the mall. There will be bottled water available but it is imperative that you leave the area promptly. Awards and prize money will be mailed or available for pickup the week after the race.
We will not have race packets, only bib numbers and shirts (if purchased). If at all possible, please pick up your bib (and shirt) at Runners' Retreat starting on Mon. May 24th. If you register on-line, allow 24 hours to pick up your bib. On race day, we will begin pick-up AT THE STORE at 6:30AM. Please adhere to social distancing standards -- we will have marks on the mall to help maintain a safe distance between participants. Families may stay together. Allow enough time to arrive at the starting line. If you miss your heat, move to the last heat in the line. You will still receive an accurate time.
Your bib number will indicate your wave. The letter preceding the number will be your wave. For example, if your number is E1234 you will be in Wave E. Please try to run in your assigned heat.
When you arrive at the start area, line up with your wave and try to maintain a safe distance with other runners. Please do not intermingle in other waves. The A-wave will line up on the starting line and other waves will be staggered south on Loudoun Street and along Commerce Ave. As one wave begins the remaining waves will move up closer to the starting line.
There will only be bottled water at the starting line. Porta-potties will be available but please be cognizant of social distancing guidelines.
