The Santiago Marathon is Chile’s premier road race and the largest sporting event in the country, certified by World Athletics and a member of AIMS. Held in the dynamic capital city, the event offers three distances—42K, 21K, and 10K—attracting elite athletes and amateur runners from around the world. With its fast, urban course and growing international profile, the marathon has cemented its place as the top distance running event in the region. Danica Slavka Kusanovic Maldonado outpaced more then 2979 runners to win in 02:55:14. Pamela Tastets Ceppi De Lecco earned runner-up honours with a time of 02:58:20. The third place went to Maria Paz Escobar Toro with a time of 02:58:56
For the women, Daniel Ignacio Cortes Cortes claimed victory with a time of 02:17:31 . She bested Mauricio Alejandro Flandez Flandez who crossed the finish line 4 seconds behind her. Finishing third was Diego Sebastian Inzunza Sanhueza (02:22:26).

Medio Maratón de Santiago
Bernard Maldonado Martinez took top spot in 01:08:45. He finished 4 seconds ahead of Miguel Maza. The third place went to Sebastian Andres Duran Traslavina with a time of 01:09:09
In the women’s race, At the end of the race, Margarita Andrea Masias Guineo and Clara De Las Nieves Morales Urzua crossed the finish line in the same time of 01:18:29. Rounding out the top three was Catalina Langlois Ugarte with a time of 01:18:33.

The victory went to Carlos Martin Diaz Del Rio who crossed the finish line at 00:29:29. Coming in second was Matias Andres Silva Lastra (00:29:49). Gabriel Halans Munoz Flores (00:31:31) made notched third place.
For the women, Jennifer Gonzalez Caro scored victory with a time of 00:36:00 . She finished 28 seconds ahead of Mariela Ortiz. Maria Elena Acuna Moreno got the third place in 00:38:24.

New date for the Santiago Marathon in Chile

Initially set for April 19th, the organizers of the Maratón de Santiago in Chile have announced that due to the referendum on the new Chilean Constitution, that had to postpone the event.
The 14th edition of the marathon will be held on May 17th 2020.
F rancisca Aguirre, executive director of the Gatorade Maratón de Santiago 2020, comments that “we made this decision in the most conscious way possible, thinking that the marathon is a unifying event, sporting and that it unites a series of associated values that allow those who run it – and also the environment that follows it in the streets of the city – to live a true day of celebration, joy and integration”.
