Experience the world's largest UNESCO Baroque Pearl on the Ragusa Marathon! This 5 km stretch of the city passes between the outskirts of Ragusa Ovest and rural hamlets of the Plateau. The route includes some "dirt" sections ranging between 50 and 300 meters, and it skirts the western outskirts of Ragusa, with the large roundabout of Viale delle Americhe. As the route continues, it passes through residential villages such as Monachella, Cisternazzi, Fortugno and the Industrial Zone and Mining Zone, characterized by oil wells and tunnels. The last 32 km of the course is mostly downhill, and leads to the Upper Historic Center, where the event passes by Unesco World Heritage Sites. The last kilometer features 300 meters of challenging ascent, before the final entrance to the pedestrian area of Piazza Duomo. The whole route is considered "fast", with a first "very undulating" part, and the second part being faster, apart from the "particular commitment" required for the last kilometer.
