The marathon was created in 1976 to promote the Marine Corps in a post-Vietnam war America. In 2006, a 10k race was added.
In 2019, a new 50 km ultra marathon is inaugurated.

If you're into a "team-spirit" type of marathon, this is the one for you. It's so inspiring to watch veterans (wounded warriors included) run alongside you, while the crowds never, and I mean never, stop you from staying energized. Very well organized, crowded in a good way, and overall a must-hit marathon for any serious or amateur runner. Running by the monuments is a complete blast as well!
I don't know why it doesn't say marathon lol
