Gather your energy and get your running shoes on; the largest and most spectacular Half Marathon in Spain is back! The Madrid Half Marathon (Medio Maratón de Madrid) is the biggest of its kind in Spain and one of the most outstanding in Europe with more than 20,000 participants. You'll be able to see the iconic landmarks in the city as you run 21,097 meters, with the start and finish line of the race at the Paseo del Prado.Founded in the 9th century, Madrid has a unique old European charm that is full of colors and sunshine. Whether you're looking for history, art, sightseeing or a great night out, the Spanish capital offers something for everyone. So take some time off from running and explore the beautiful and historical city of Madrid from a runner’s point of view!

Course highlights

The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon circuit measures 21,097 km and is duly approved by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. This test is carried out under the road race regulations of World Athletics and the RFEA, and is integrated into the AIMS race calendar. The route will be controlled and monitored by the Municipal Police, mobility agents and members of the Organization. Every kilometre will be signposted. Medio Maratón de Madrid Ronald Kiprotich Kirui took top spot in 00:59:36. Ronald Kiprotich Kirui and Ezra Kipketer Tanui end up toghether at the second place with a time of 00:59:40 For the women, Nelly Jepchumba took top spot in 01:07:44 . Alemitu Tariku Olana earned runner-up honours with a time of 01:07:56. Rounding out the top three was Ayinadis Teshome Birle with a time of 01:08:15. She finished 12 secondes ahead of Susana Sanchez-alamo. Claudia Escalera got the third place in 00:22:10.
