Running
Calendars
Course: The 5K race will follow the same course as was used in 2019 which is an out and back course starting at Vaughan Field and traveling south through the Middle Street residential area and then out Litchfield Road into Hallowell's country side with a turnaround point near the intersection of Litchfield Road and Smith Road. The course returns along the same route back to Vaughan Field.
And if you have heard about the legendary "hills of Hallowell", don't fret. This course is virtually flat with a gradual incline going out and a gentle downhill return.
Registration: The field will be capped at 250 participants so please register online in advance so you will not miss out. Registration closes at the end of the day Thursday, July 14th.
Swag (UPDATE June 30th): So go figure but the worldwide supply chain shortages have hit the apparel/shirt community as well. We were not able to acquire adequate shirts from our vendor in time for the race but we did get a cool design together for race hats with the Old Hallowell Day logo. They come in all navy blue and black/white so you can take your pick.
Packet Pick-Up: This year we plan on having packet pickup the afternoon before the race so we can get you setup. We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE everyone to come to packet pickup since we have an early start on Saturday morning and checking in before will make the Start easier for everyone. Getting your bib will be possible the morning of the race, just expect some lines and plan accordingly.
Gender Identity: Gender diversity is welcome here! Runners are encouraged to enter themselves in the Category that best fits their gender identity or expression (Female, Male or Non-Binary). If there are less than three Non-Binary participants in an Age Group, registrants will have the option to compete in the Female or Male Age Group. You also may choose to not compete for the Age Group Award if you would prefer.
Awards and Categories: We plan on providing locally Maine made awards for our top finishers in the following categories
Kids K: We will have about a 1000 meter course set up for our future Olympians to strut their stuff after the 5K and before the Awards Ceremony. Open to kids 10 and under and we plan on giving each kiddo some swag just like the Adults.
Timing: All 5K runners will have an official bib with chip timing. Kids K runners will have bibs but the event will not be officially chip timed.
Price: $30 for all 5K registrants signed up online before registration closes on July 14. $35 for all registrations made at Packet Pickup or the morning of the race. Kids K is FREE.
