Pocono Mountains Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k
We have decided to offer a marathon distance to our event. This course is certified as PA21001NP. We just made the decision to add the marathon distance to the race today. We are charging a very reasonable $80 entry fee. Marathon entries are limited to 300.
Start/Finish and High elevation level to 1760’/536m.
There will be an open start line. You can start the marathon or half marathon at 06:30am up until 8am. We will have social distancing in place as well, and we ask that all in attendance wear a mask when not running. The marathon course will be open from 06:30am to 1:30pm, so you’ll have 7 hours to complete the course.
Marathon runners will receive all the goodies that the other athletes in the events receive: shirt, medal, post race food, and awards!
For competitive marathoners and half marathoners, there will be a 07:30am start for both events. All are welcome to start at that time. You don’t need to do any special registration to start in this wave, nor will there be any required race times to start then. All are welcome to start at 07:30am. Just let the faster runners start near the front. All results are based on chip time, so your time starts when you cross the start mat.
We have to be aware of Covid precautions. We did the competitive wave start at Two Rivers and it worked well. We bring the runners close to the start line, make announcements and tell them, “when I call you forward to the start line, you’ll hear on your mark, get set, go!” Everyone is together in one place for less than 10 seconds.
Promised Land State Park is on the Pocono Plateau. The park consists primarily of beech, oak, maple, and hemlock trees. Two lakes and several small streams add to the park’s outstanding scenic beauty. Fall is the best time to visit the Poconos. The lush forests will be in full glory with all the vibrant colors of their fall leaves. Both courses will be run on park roads with a paved surface and views of the lake and fall colors with minimal hills.
SUNDAY – Day of the race starting at 7:00AM
Pickup will be near the Start/Finish Line
Will be in the Park’s parking lot, there is ample parking
Please continue to move through the finish line to receive water, medal and food.
There will be vegetarian options available.
There will be aid stations on the course at miles 2, 4 and 6 (which means 8, 10 and 12 for each loop.)
Please make sure to put your garbage (bottles, gels, etc.) in or near the provided garbage cans on the course (just after the aid stations) or carry it to the next station.
