Project Purple Pounding Pavement for Pancreatic Cancer

This race is a fundraiser and will not be timed "officially" by any professional timing organization. Since this race is for charity, we'd like to donate as much $ as we possibly can. Thank you for your donation! 💜

Project Purple is a Connecticut-based non-profit organization created to raise awareness, support patients and families affected by the disease, and fund research efforts to defeat pancreatic cancer.

Tommy Olivarez, born in Gary, grew up in South Haven and attended school in Portage, was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and told he had months to live in October 2022, and that there was nothing they could do for him. Since then, he’s been fighting the cancer through chemotherapy treatment, multiple surgeries, and 100% relies on the support of the Project Purple team and his friends and family. As a part of this community, we are hosting this race to raise funds and awareness for Tommy and his family.

100% of the proceeds will be donated.

·        50% directly to Project Purple for Pancreatic Cancer research

·        50% directly to Tommy Olivarez and his family.

Course Info: The race will start at Imagination Glen Park near the playground and run through the parking lot to the PAVED Iron Horse Heritage trail. There will be one turn off the Iron Horse Heritage trail to the Prairie Duneland trail and then a U turn for a flat out and back race.

At least one water stop will be available on course.   

Entry Fee: Early registration —$25 plus processing fee - $20 without a shirt.  Race day - $35

Race shirt sizes and availability are only guaranteed if registered before April 15th.

Race Day Packet Pick Up:  On-site packet pick up will be available at the race site from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM

ALL REGISTRATION WILL BE DONE ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL THE START OF THE RACE.  PARTICIPANTS THAT WISH TO REGISTER ON RACE DAY SHOULD DO SO ONLINE BEFORE HEADING TO THE RACE SITE.

We are currently planning to have all participants start at 8:30 AM.  The starting line will remain open for 5 minutes.  Participants starting after 8:35 will not receive a time.
