"Run For The Elk" Half Marathon, 5k/10k & 2Mile Sprint

"Run For The Elk" Half Marathon, 5k/10k, 2 Mile Downhill Sprint or take the Rut or Rut Jr. Challenge 

Dates: Saturday August 8th, 2020 (5k, 10k) & Sunday August 9th, 2020  (1/2 Marathon, 2Mile Downhill Sprint) or Take the "Rut Challenge" and RUN them ALL!!

Saturday- 5k and 10k will take place at Parker Dam State Park  Address-    28 Fairview Rd, Penfield, PA 15849     5K will start at 7:00AM 10k will start at 8:00AM 

Parking- will be at Parker Dam state Park on site near the Start/Finish for both the 5k/10k & 1Mile

Courses-  Will be right through the heart of the Wilds!!  The 5k will be a pretty easy out and back course along  Mud Run Rd (Paved Road)  With Approx. 150 feet of elevation change.  The 10k will follow the 5k course then go another 1.55 on the other side of the lake (Fairview Rd) it will be a paved/dirt rd right through the forest!!  The courses will be VERY scenic and sure to please!!  Few Places in PA can compare to the Wilds!! 

Sunday- Run for the Elk Half Marathon & 2Mile Sprint-  Half Marathon Will Start at 7AM with the 2Mile starting  at 7:30AM

Courses:  1/2 Marathon will be a point to point race.  Shuttles will take Participants to the Starting line on Dent's Run Rd. Race will PASS the famous Winslow Hill Viewing Area and will end at The Benezette Winery (196 2nd St, Benezette, PA 15821.) The route will have some elevation  with a 1.2% Grade and a 2.4% Grade in spots.  However, it will net an over all -decent.   Runners will also have a pretty good chance to see the Elk Heard while Running!!  The 2Mile Down Hill Sprint will Start at the Winslow Hill Viewing area and follows the last two miles of the 1/2 Marathon course which is also the biggest decent!!  (Approx a  -500 foot elevation loss!!)   (Both Courses feature all Paved Rds through the heart of the wilds with extremely unique and scenic stretches!!)  The average temperature for this time of year is mid 60-70s!

Rut Challenges-  Rut Challenge- 5k/10k, Half Marathon   Rut Jr.-  5k/10k, 2Mile  The Rut: (mid-September to mid-October, the elk rut is a time when male elk, or bulls, vie for the hearts of their female counterparts!!) 

Parking- Participants will be shuttled in from Saint Mary's High School Located: 977 S St Marys St, St Marys, PA 15857 and shuttled to the starting lines!! Shuttles will start running at 5AM and will Run Continuously during the duration of the events!!   Shuttles will be taking participants back to their vehicles from the winery. 

 Bib Pick-up & Registration:  Saturday's registration will open at 6AM with bib pickup for that day located right near the Start/Finish Line.  You will also be able to pick up Sunday's Half & 2Mile bib here as well!  Bib Pickup will also take place Saturday Afternoon from 1-5PM at Benezette Winery Located:  196 2nd St, Benezette, PA    You May ALSO pickup YOUR Bib on Race Day Sunday near the Start/Finish!!                                                                                                                                    

Aid Stations: There will be stations w/first aid, Water and Gatorade Approx: every two miles of the 1/2 Marathon. (Some may even have a few treats!!) We will also have Paramedics and Porta Pots on the course.  The 5k will have one and the 10k will have two stations.

FEES:  5k-  $30 until Jan. 1st,  $35 until May 1st,  $40 until Race Day  10k- $35 until Jan. 1st, $40 May 1st, $45 until Race Day   1/2 Marathon- $65 until Jan. 1st, $75 April 1st, $80 until June 1st, $85 until Race Day  2Mile Sprint- $30 until Jan. 1st, $35 until May 1st,  $40 until Race Day  Rut Challenge(5k/10k/Half) $85 until Jan. 1st, $95 until April 1st, $105 until June 1st, $115 until Race Day   Rut Jr. (5k/10k/2Mile) $70 until Jan. 1st, $75 until April 1st, $80 until June 1st,  $85 until Race Day  Walk- $10 with NO Shirt, $20 with Shirt  (** We will keep registration open until race day endless SOLD OUT**)

Awards:   "VERY UNIQUE race themed awards" Top 3 Male & Female to go with top masters Male & Female (40+.) There will also be age group awards for both male and female runners.

Team Awards: Special Elk Themed awards to the top 3 teams with the most participants and top 3 fastest!! 

Age Groups: (Both ½,  5K & 10k, 2Mile) -19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34,35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

T-Shirts: Amazing race themed Short sleeve tech shirt!!

Finisher’s Medals:  Unique Medals pertaining to the PA Wilds will be awarded to all Participants in the 5k/10k, Half Marathon & 2Mile!!   We will also have an additional Medal for those running the Rut Challenge and Rut Challenge Jr.!!   You COULD Earn up to 4 Medals!!

Time Limit: 1/2 marathon  5 Hours,  5k 1 hour, 10k 90 Minutes, 2Miles no limit

Finish Line/After Party: There will be a live DJ/Entertainer at the start/finish area during the duration of the races.  Sunday will also feature a great selection of food post race to go with a little bit of the Bubbly!!  One complimentary glass of `wine (sangria) or hard apple cider to EVERY RUNNER 21+!!

Benezette- is the ”Elk Capital of Pennsylvania” and is located in the heart of the state’s wild elk herd, now numbering almost 1,000 majestic animals. One of the best spots to start an elk viewing adventure is at the Winslow Hill viewing area. The Mt. Zion Historical Park near Benezette is a beautiful and quiet place with an honor walkway and Civil War, Veterans, and Boy Scout memorials. The nearby Quehanna Wild Area features a spectacular White Birch grove in the Marion Brooks Natural Area.  Plus, the town has some amazing gift shops & stores!!

PA Wilds Series:  Four Destination Races all located in the PA Wilds!!  Races will  Consist of  the "Great Allegheny" Ohiopyle April 18th, 19th, Run for the Elk August 8th, 9th, Conquer the Canyon July 25th & 26th (registration not open yet) plus a fall event on October 25th and 26th 2020 (registration not open yet)   Participants that run ALL 4 will receive a SPECIAL Medal at the end of the year!!
