About the event
Run Germantown was created in 2015 by The One Less Foundation to raise awareness about poverty in the Philadelphia metro area and to support the programs of the organization. The 5K race has grown each year and now benefits additional local nonprofits and their programs as well. This year the nonprofits that will benefit from Run Germantown are: The One Less Foundation, The Historic Johnson House and Friends of Vernon Park.
Each of the nonprofit organizations are actively involved in the Germantown community and work to create an inclusive, uplifting and accessible environment to all in the neighborhood and in Philadelphia.
The 2018 Run Germantown 5K race will begin and end in the newly renovated and beautifully landscaped Vernon Park, located in the heart of the Germantown neighborhood. The course this year runs through some of the most historic residential blocks in West Central Germantown, near historic sites such as Wyck House and Gardens, the Johnson House (a site on the underground railroad), Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse and Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion. The course will also take runners past gorgeous architecture in this urban community in one of the most historic neighborhoods in the country. In addition to the history and architecture runners will run past some of the most beautiful and vibrant gardens in Germantown.
We'll see you Saturday, September 8, 2017 at 8:00am!
