The Runathon of Hope, a “Half Marathon” held annually by the Rotary Club of Nigdi-Pune and recognized by the Maharashtra Athletic Association, is growing in popularity. It takes place in PCMC, one of India's largest and fastest growing industrial, educational, and residential suburbs, and is the biggest of its kind in the area. With a highly visible road track, the race attracts over 10,000 participants and spectators each year. It began in 2011 with 4,000 runners, and since then the numbers have grown steadily - in 2013, there were 7,000 participants, and 2018 saw over 10,000. Different race categories include Half Marathon (21.097 km), Hope Run (10 km & 5 km), Corporate Run (5 km), Charity Run/Walk (2 km), and U-16, U-14 Run for school children.
