Sofi Malt Great Ethiopian Run International 10km

The Great Ethiopian Run is renowned for its annual international 10km event, which has been held annually since 2001. This race has become the biggest road race in Africa, with 45,000 participants. It is an incredibly vibrant and colourful event, with Ethiopians running, walking, and even dancing their way through the route, often led by the country's celebrated international athletes. People from all over the world and of all abilities join the race, some to experience Ethiopia's historical sites and national parks, while others come as part of school and charity groups, or just for a weekend getaway. The Hyatt Regency hotel hosts a pre-race pasta party, with traditional Ethiopian music and dancing, a coffee ceremony, and the chance to meet Haile Gebrselassie, the founder of the race. Entry for the race and pasta party costs £70. The race has also become a platform for publicizing important social messages.
