The Swiss Alps 100 is an incredibly beautiful course which runs through the valley, along ridges and over Swiss alpine passes. It's challenging and mostly single trails and fire roads.
The course is inspired by the legendary Leadville 100. Starting in Oberwald at 4,518 feet the course begins with a gradual downhill on farm/fire-roads and single trails to 3,969 feet. Next up is "The Beast" a 3,700ft climb in only 6.4 miles with 14 switchbacks to the highest point of the race at 8,379ft. The next 23.5 miles traces ridges and skirts peaks along the Swiss Alps with phenomenal views down to the valleys, snowy mountain tops, and glaciers glimpses. Once arriving in the idyllic village of Simplon-Dorf, 50 milers will have reached their goal and the 100 milers turn around to trace the course back to Oberwald. After a terrific aid station break with access to drop bags, they will grab their headlamps and look forward to a star-filled sky and views down to the lights of Alpine villages along the way. Once crossing the finish line in Oberwald they will receive a well deserved belt buckle and finisher t-shirt.
