Unfortunately, the K78 route that I ran in 2003 no longer exists in this form. The T88, which has been held since 2018, is a completely different competition. On the 78 kilometers of the K78 that started and ended in Davos, 2320 meters of altitude had to be overcome. It lead over beautiful mountain trails with a fabulous panorama, through candle-lit tunnels, over railway bridges, past gorges and over the Scaletta Pass. In short: a real treat from start to finish! It is questionable whether this can also be said about the much harder T88. If you should be looking for an extended report in German language and some pictures, you will find it on www.marathon-tourist.de

Results: Runners do it big in Davos

30 Jul, 2015 (Thu)

Credit : Leo-setä Ultramarathon results Evgenii Glyva (6:31:51) grinded out a first place finish over nearly 800 runner at the Swiss Alpine Ultramarathon (78km) in Davos, Switzerland. Part of the 30th anniversary of events in the Alps, the biggest mountain ultramarathon, is surrounded with scenic views to help motivate runners through tough terrain and major gains in elevation. Runner-up Dimitri Tsyganov (6:37:47) and third-place finisher Vajin Armstrong (6:38:34) were among a total of six runners to come in under seven hours. For the women, it was Jasmin Nunige (6:52:21) and no one else for almost 35 minutes. Similar to Nunige, second-place finisher Andrea Huser (7:27:41) put plenty of time between her and the field. Simina Staicu rounded out the top three with a time of 7:48:03. Replacing the culture marathon to add more competition, the first-year race saw close to 900 runners loop through two valleys and a pair of passes, with some serious increases in elevation along the way. In a race for runner-up it was Sondre Ovre-Helland (3:50:27) holding off Stefan Pulfer (3:52:52). For the women, it was Ornella Poltera (4:17:11) pushing past nearly 300 women to win the first-ever event. Eliane Josi followed for second with a time of 4:26:11.
