ABOUT THE RACE
Race is capped at 150 participants; 50KM distance is capped at 25 participants.
Moose Mountain Trail Races is a breathtaking 16KM, 29KM, 42KM & new in 2021, the inaugural 50KM, solo mountain trail race in the Kananaskis Country park system, Alberta.
*NOTE: We are working through final permit approvals in response to COVID-19 Safety Protocol, distance changes, etc.
West Bragg Creek recreational area (start & finish line) ascends from rolling prairie, through the foothills and is home to 152km of gorgeous community built trails. This spectacular terrain will journey runners through an adventure of forested single & double track with an 8000 foot backdrop of the stunning Moose Mountain, the highest peak in this mountain range.
Lewiston Ultra Events is beyond honored to continue the traditions of Moose Mountain Trail Races (established in 1992) and host an exceptional run experience and give back to Love for Lewiston & community.
THE INSPIRATION
Moose Mountain Trail Races, hosted by Lewiston Ultra Events is inspired by Lewiston James Olstad and community. Lewiston reminded us to squeeze a little harder, love a little longer and savor the moments we tend to wish away. Lewiston was small and mighty and encouraged community to rise up, persevere and run towards the roar.
Moose Mountain Trail Races gives back to Love For Lewiston, Greater Bragg Creek Trail Association, Moose Mountain Bike Trail Society, Foothills Search & Rescue & several other community/volunteer organizations and shareholders.
REGISTRATION
All distances will be $110 CDN (+GST & UltraSignup fee)
Participants must be 18 years of age or older on race day
*AMEX (AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVERY) cards are not accepted methods of payment
Lewiston Ultra Events does not offer refunds and there is no waitlist
Registration is transferable until 8am on August 3, 2021 for a $20 administration fee. There are no transfers after 8am on August 3, 2021 – no exceptions. Please understand as there are liability issues, impacts with medical volunteer support and race integrity. Transfer requests can be sent to [email protected]
Registration will close August 3, 2021 @ 8am or when the race fills; whichever comes first.

Top female & male 16KM, 29KM, 42KM & 50KM finishers will be awarded custom paintings by Kelowna artist, Nathan Karsgaard of Folk & Wild.
All participants will complete an online waiver in the registration process.
All participants will acknowledge, accept & understand the Lewiston Ultra Events COVID-19 Safety Protocol.
Lewiston Ultra Events has print and social media rights to use all photographs, videos, etc taken of participants, volunteers, crews, community, etc during the course of events listed in the Schedule of Events without compensation to the person/person(s).
THE COURSE
Moose Mountain Trail Races hosts four (4) distances: 16KM, 29KM, 42KM & 50KM
16KM (11AM START)
Elevation gain: 460 meters
Elevation loss: 460 meters
Estimated completion time: 1 hrs – 2.5 hrs
Trail Type: 75% Single Track with some Double Track
Aid Station @ 8KM
FINISH LINE CUT OFF: Runners must cross the finish line by 3:30pm to receive official finish time & finishers medal
29KM (8:30AM START)
Elevation gain: 1220 meters
Elevation loss: 1220 meters
Estimated completion time: 2.5 hrs – 4.5 hrs
Trail Type: 50% Single Track & 50% Double Track
Aid Available @ 9KM, 13KM, 16KM & 20KM
CUT OFF – Runners must pass thru the switchback or aid station at T-Junction [16KM or 20KM] by 1pm. Runners after the 1pm cut off will be assisted off the mtn & brought to the finish line.
42KM (8:30AM START)
Elevation gain: 1620 meters
Elevation loss: 1620 meters
Estimated completion time: 3.5 hrs – 6 hrs
Trail Type: 50% Single Track & 50% Double Track
Aid Available @ 9KM, 13KM, 16KM, 20KM, 27KM & 33KM
CUT OFF 1 – Runners must pass thru the switchback or aid station at T-Junction [16KM or 20KM] by 1pm. Runners after the 1pm cut off will be assisted off the mtn & brought to the finish line.
CUT OFF 2 - Runners must arrive at the aid station at Moose Connector [27KM] by 1pm or they will be redirected to the finish line & receive placement in the 29KM distance
50KM (8:30AM START)
Elevation gain: 2351meters
Elevation loss: 2351meters
Estimated completion time: 4 hrs – 7.5 hrs
Trail Type: 50% Single Track & 50% Double Track
Aid Available @ 9KM, 13KM, 17.5KM, 21.5KM, 35KM & 41KM
CUT OFF 1 – Runners must pass thru the switchback or aid station at T-Junction [16KM or 20KM] by 1pm. Runners after the 1pm cut off will be assisted off the mtn & brought to the finish line.
CUT OFF 2 - Runners must arrive at the aid station at Moose Connector [35KM] by 2pm or they will be redirected to the finish line & will DNF
