The Scandinavian School's Viking Run

The Scandinavian School and Cultural Center Third Annual Viking Run Saturday April 29, 2023.

It's that time of the year again - so put on your horns and tighten your shoe laces and come join us for The Scandinavian School's third annual Viking run! Bring your friends, family and fellow vikings to this 5K fun run in Golden Gate Park on Saturday April 29, at 8:30AM.

 Prizes will be given to the top three finishers and best costume! T-shirts to the kiddos and tote bags for the adults as giveaways - plus a small surprise to all!   Get you friends together and sign up as a team! Our run also features two kids dash distances for the little vikings to enjoy their own race (80 yrds 2-3 years, 200 yrds 4-8 years ), as well as a 2k run for children 7-14 years old.

There will be plenty of time to socialize with your fellow vikings during and after the race, with ample of time to visit our sponsor booths and take part in some  viking games. Activities, light food and beverages will be included in the participation fees, or can be purchased separately if you’re not able to participate in the race.

Location : The Pioneer Log Cabin picnic area in Golden Gate Park , located on 2 Stow Lake Drive, the south side – right after it splits off from John F. Kennedy Drive. Please find a map here .  

When driving to the picnic area, travel on Stow Lake Drive. Keep in mind that cars are not allowed on John F. Kennedy Drive, but free parking is available along Stow Lake Drive or Martin Luther King Jr Drive.

Please allow ample time to find parking and to check in at the registration which opens at 7:30AM. The 5k and 2k races start at 8:30 AM sharp and the kids dashes at 9:30AM

7:30 AM Registration opens
8:15 AM Viking Warm Up
8:30 AM The 5K and 2K races begin! First runners, then walkers and strollers .
9:30 AM Kids dash (80 yrds 2-3 years, 200 yrds 4-8 years)
10:00 Winners for costume and runs announced
