The Slurpee Hustle

By all accounts, it's gonna be hot on Saturday, August 13th.  What better way to cool off than with a 7-Eleven Slurpee?  The first ever Slurpee Hustle is a run or ride to the 7-Eleven by mile 48 for a free Slurpee and hot dog.  Participants will also receive an event water bottle.

On August 13th, meet at the Pop-Up Rest Stop at the Intermediate Terminal between miles 50 and 51.  You can show up any time between 10:00AM-1:00PM to do your Slurpee Hustle.  You’ll need to get your 7-Eleven coupons and swag before Hustlin’.  There'll be yard games, snacks, and water for you to enjoy.

Your Slurpee Hustle can just be running or biking to 7-Eleven on your own, but we highly recommend the following format for optimum fun, relay-style:

Bikers and runners partner up (best to do so prior to the event).Bikers take the drawstring bag and their own and running partners' water bottles and 7-Eleven coupons.They depart from the Intermediate Terminal at the same time. But runners head West to the floodwall doors (the end of the Trail).And bikers head East to 7-Eleven. Bikers stop at 7-Eleven and fill 2 water bottles with Slurpees, get 2 hot dogs, give the cashier their coupons, and then turn around and continue biking until they meet their running partners.Runners turn around at the floodwall doors and continue running until they meet their biking partners. Once the biker and runner partners meet, the biker will hand off the Slurpee to the runner and they both can go to the Intermediate Terminal where the biker and runner will enjoy their hot dogs.

Approximate mileage for the relay will be 2-miles for the runners and 5-miles for the bikers.  Feel free to do more!

But wait, there's even more fun for biker-runner teams!   There'll be an outfit contest.  The theme: 7-Eleven, of course!  We want to see your fashionable interpretation of our favorite convenience store chain.  The biker-runner-teams with the best outfits will win Virginia Capital Trail goodie bags.  Winners will be chosen at 12:00PM.

Need to rent a bike?  Check out The Kickstand (right by the Intermediate Terminal) or Kul Wheels for an electric bike (across from 7-Eleven).

There is a cap on this event.  So grab a partner or keep it chill like a Slurpee and sign-up by August 10th!
