About the event
Covid-19 Update
It is our pleasure to announce that we have been given the green light to Hold the Triple Lakes Trail Race 2020 at Bur-Mil Park as scheduled (kind of) on October 31st! Here are the modifications that had to be made to the event to meet all of the Covid-19 related procedures that are in place to keep everyone safe.
Start Time/Check-In
At check-in, each racer will have their temperature taken and must submit a Covid-19 waiver prior to receiving their bib. You can download the waiver beforehand and bring it with you (preferred) or we will have extras at check-in.
There will be a waved start to the race with the first wave checking in starting at 7am for a 7:30am start. With subsequent waves starting at 15-minute intervals. The first three waves are reserved for the 40-mile race and 40-mile relay participants.
Go to https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Greensboro/TripleLakesTrailHalfMarathonMarathon40Miler to select your corral and download the waiver. There will be a separate e-mail with detailed instructions for corral selection.
The Course
We will utilize the half marathon course and you will run it one, two, or three times depending on the distance that you have signed up for. This will minimize the number of volunteers necessary, the number of aid stations necessary, as well as the number of porta-jons.
The course is as follows:
Start/Finish up on the hill by Pavilion 7
Run down to the greenway and run towards Piedmont Trail
Take Piedmont Trail to Lake Brandt Rd.
Do not cross the street, stay right and run over the dam towards the Marina
Stay right on to Nat Greene Trail
Cross the greenway and continue on Nat Greene Trail to Old Battleground Rd.
Do not cross the street, stay right and run towards Palmetto Trail
Stay right on to Palmetto Trail
When you exit Palmetto Trail cross the Greenway and enter Owl’s Roost Trail
When you exit Owl’s Roost Trail the Finish will be up the grass hill where you started.
DO NOT GO UP TO THE FINISH UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR LAST LOOP. If it is not your last loop, just head back down the greenway to Piedmont Trail.
Aid Stations/Drop Bags
There will be three aid stations:
One at the greenway next to the Start/Finish. This will have bottled water and individually wrapped snacks. It will also be the location for anyone who has a personal drop bag. You will have access to the drop bag for each loop.
One at the parking lot of the Marina. This will have bottled water and individually wrapped snacks.
One at the parking lot at the exit of Nat Greene Trail on Old Battleground Rd. This will have bottled water and individually wrapped snacks.
Relay Hand-offs
All three aid stations will serve as relay hand-offs. Each relay team can decide how their teams will split their relays. Some racers might run smaller segments while others run longer ones, etc. It is the responsibility of each team to get their runners to and from relay hand-off locations.
Awards
All racers will receive a long sleeve technical running shirt and beanie/hat.
Individual race award winners will be notified by e-mail and will have the opportunity to pick up their awards at a time and location tbd.
