Union Mills Wilderness 5K, 10K and Virtual Run (Formerly Box Creek Event)

10 am kick off on 2/25/2023- Union Mills, NC

Union Mills Learning Center is presenting the 5th annual Union Mills Wilderness 5K, 10K and Virtual Run on Saturday, February 25, 2023 (Formerly Box Creek Event -- just a name change). The 10K boasts spectacular scenery, taking runners alongside the Second Broad River, the CSX Railroad, and around the base of Rocky Face Mountain and the area now known as Box Creek Wilderness. 5K participants can walk or run the route that will begin at Union Mills Learning Center. Both races are scheduled to start at 10am with social distancing being per current CDC guidelines.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the face of what race day events look like but we are thankful to be allowed to move forward with this event with safety cautions and measures in place. If the County or State changes said approval all participants will be transferred from the 5k and 10K Timed to the Virtual events by default with no refunds allowed. So please read below for some of the NEW items for 2022/2023 and Happy Racing!

* Virtual Events offered in the 5k and 10k distance. Finisher medal along with T shirt and goodie bag  will be mailed out. No T-shirt guaranteed to be received before the race if not registered by the19th .  Runners must submit their time under their profile. You will have from Friday, Feb. 24th through Sunday, Feb. 26th to submit your times under your profile for the virtual event(s). No points or placements will be designated.

*Both the 5k and 10k will be in the ROC series points race for 2023. 1 additional point earned for the 10k (make note)!!

* No Race day sign up which will reduce touch points and allow us to reduce volunteers and maintain a safe environment.  CDC guidelines are followed with masks optional.

* Pre Made race goodie bags will be distributed race morning following social distancing protocols. The bag will include your disposable timing chip (wear on your chest), Race T-shirt, and a few small sponsored items. 

*Refreshments will be prepackaged and self served at both the finish-line area in the auditorium and on the course.

* An awards ceremony will be held in the facility auditorium. A face book Live video will take place. Awards will be mailed if anyone leaves before the ceremony. Find your results under RacingToes.com

T shirt dead line Feb 20th.  Due to demand and the ability to receive shipments from the vendor in a timely manner, shirt colors may vary.

Awards for Top 2 Male & Female Overall

Top 3 places (Male & Female) in each Age Group:
1-12; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 & over.
