Westbrook Strong 5K and Matt's Mile Kids Fun Run

This race is in memory of Matthew Rairdon who's life was tragically taken in November 2013. When preparing to go to college, Matt was extremely appreciative to receive a scholarship to attend St. Joseph's college. The intent of this scholarship fund is to help other people who want to pursue a nursing education at St. Joseph's in the future. The first scholarship was awarded in the fall of 2014.  Now we award 2 scholarships each year.

We are pleased to announce that we will have a in-person run. We are also offering a virtual run option.  Because of the pandemic we have some rules of the road that are different from past years. Please review them below.  

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, if you are an in-person runner here are the rules that we need you to abide by: 

Packet Pickup will be done over 2 evenings on July 15th and 16th at Mr. Bagel in Westbrook. Times TBD.In order to enhance social distancing we will be staring runners off in small groups spaced 30 seconds apart.Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your assigned starting time. If you arrive earlier please stay in your car until closer to your start time.If you feel ill or have been caring for someone who is ill please transfer your bib to someone else. There are no penalties for this. You can do it right up until the your start time.We request that you wear a mask while you are in Riverbank Park. We will have rubbish cans placed as you exit the park. We will also have clean masks available to whoever wants one at the end of the race.Try to keep 6 feet of physical distance from other individuals who are not part of your household while you are passing if possible.Please do not spit or blow your nose into the air along the route or in the park.There is no water station on the course route this year. Please feel free to carry your own water if you need to. A Grab-and-Go food box and water will be provided in the park at the end of the race, as you exit the park.Please exit the park as quickly as possible at the end of the race. Do not loiter or gather in groups at the finish area.Winners will be mailed their awards.There should be no physical contact between spectators and participants (e.g. no high-fives.) No spectators are allowed in the park.Race results will NOT be posted in the park after the race. They will be texted or emailed to you. 

This year we are doing something a little different with our charitable giving.  In addition to our scholarship giving, we will raise funds to make a donation to the Westbrook Regional Vocational Center, Medical Occupations Department. They have requested 2 training manikins.
