Running of the Elves 5k

On Saturday, December 7th at 8am, the Yuba-Sutter Training Zone will host the 2019 Running of the Elves. All proceeds from this race will benefit the Yuba/Sutter Children's Type 1 Diabetes Support Group & Resource Center. This group was founded in 2005 by a mother whose
daughter was diagnosed with Type I diabetes.

"Our group has grown from one family meeting in someone’s home to over 70 families and we are increasing our outreach and support to families everyday. Our group works diligently in the community to provide advocacy and education to families and schools to increase awareness and spread knowledge to arm people with the tools they need to help manage this disease. We have many professionals who are willing to give their time to help with the chaos that occurs at the time of the diagnosis, and to help the entire family to face the complete lifestyle transformation that occurs. Our organization has grown! We have found it necessary to include a monthly diabetes class/support group for people who live with type 2 diabetes. We teach you how to use your glucose meter step by step in our quite office setting. Learning what to eat and nutritional label reading is very important; with an appointment we can teach you the skills to eat healthy and GIVE you the tools to stay healthy! Our recipes, educational material, & appointments to answer questions or by referring you to someone who can help, is our mission. You are not alone. It takes a village and an understanding of how to manage diabetes to live successfully!" 

Training Zone is excited to help this orginzation with their mission.

Race Details:

Starts in front of the Silver Dollar Saloon (330 First St, Marysville, CA) and runs through Beckworth Riverfront Park, along the bike path.
