The Ultra 5 - The Africa Run

The Ultra 5 is a unique series of 5 self-supported ultra distance foot races run each year on the 5 Continents.

Each race takes competitors through 250 km (appx 155 miles) of rugged terrain in hostile environment, without providing any support for survival except water.

The 250 km distance is to be covered in 6 stages over 7 days, including one long stage of between 80 to 100 km.

The complete series includes the Africa Run (South Africa – the Cederberg Wilderness Area), the Europe Run (France – the Mont Blanc Summit), the America Run (Argentine – the Patagonia Region), the Asia Run (China – the Yunnan Province) and the Antarctica Run.

The inaugural race will be The Africa Run, taking place in South Africa in the wild and rugged Cederberg Wilderness Area in April 2016.

The series offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience, giving the competitors the opportunity to visit and get to know such geographically and culturally diverse areas as the majestic Mont-Blanc Summit, the wild and rugged South African Cederberg, the beautiful and deserted Patagonia Region in south Argentina, the colorful and picturesque Yunnan Province in China, and last, but certainly not least, one of the last inhabited areas on the planet, the formidable Antarctica, the true last frontier.
