The event was celebrating its 40th anniversary and many records where broken during the weekend.
Mary Keitany (Kenya) broke the women’s record on the §race_link(20330) in 31:21:7. The previous record of 31:24 was set in 2005.
Yemane Tsegay (Ethiopia) won the Marathon race in 2:06:54, setting a new course record (previous record set in 2013 in 2:08:04) as well as a new fastest marathon run in Canada. The previous record was set in Toronto in 2013 with a time of 2:07:05.
And finally, Tigist Tufa also from Ethiopia won the women’s race and set a new course record with a time of 2:24:31. The previous record was set last year in 2:25:30.
A total of 47,500 participants had registered for all the races of the weekend. This is also a new record.
