Yesterday took place the 2014 §race_link(1580). This tough trail marathon takes the runners from the Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,598ft) to Namche Bazaar (3446m/11306ft).
The whole race is run on rough mountain trails. High altitude and difficult terrain makes this marathon a race of its own kind.
Sudip Kulung from Nepal won the race in 03:52:09. The first lady Ang Chhutin Sherpa also from Nepal finished the race in 05:08:05.
The first foreigner was Robert Celinski from Poland who managed to cross the finish line in 5:08:05.
136 runners took part in the event, including 40 Nepalese.
