Making it two of the last three, Tommy Rivers Puzey (2:47:25) outpaced more than 200 runners to win the 11th Sedona Marathon in northern Arizona.
Sitting in the shadows of mountains the shade red, the course carves its way through the Coconino National Forest and its scenic landscapes.
Derrik Sweeney (2:50:36) came in second with a time of 2:50:36.
He was the only other runner to finish under three hours.
Kristofor Norberg finished a distant third at 3:18:23.
For the women, it was Christine Wenzl (3:24:56) picking up the win.
Amanda Rossolimo earned runner-up honors with a time of 3:30:53.
Taylor Votek (3:34:11) took third.
The trio finished fourth, sixth and tenth overall.
Sixty-three-year-old Leland Leonard (1:20:40) finished ahead of more than 750 runners to win the Sedona Half Marathon.
Adrian Herder secured second with a time of 1:22:14.
Daniel Crane (1:23:22) came in third.
For the women, it was Michelle Wesson (1:29:37) holding on for the win.
Runner-up Randi Simon (1:30:12) cut almost four and a half minutes from her fourth-place finish a year ago.
She won the female portion in 2012.
Taryn Treadway took third in this year’s race with a time of 1:35:22.
