Marathon results
Christopher Wehan won the inaugural Humboldt Bay Marathon in Eureka, California with a time of 2:47:31.
Coming in ahead of close to 100 runners, Wehan waited to make his move along the Arcata Bay until around the 24-mile mark.
Runner-up Galen Farris finished second with a time of 2:47:57.
In a tight race for third, Ben Stern (2:48:30) beat Kenneth Pocasangre (2:48:31) by a second to secure the final spot on the podium.
For the women, it was Stephanie Mera (3:25:46) setting the mark to beat.
Sandra Urra came in second with a time of 3:35:21.
Rounding out the top three was Lanore Bergenske at 3:40:05.

Half Marathon results
Brandon Day (1:17:01) blew away close to 200 runners to win the first ever Humboldt Bay Half Marathon.
The next fastest finisher was Matthew Kidwell (1:29:43).
Kidwell was the only other runner to finish under an hour and 30 minutes.
Drake Bernards took third with a time of 1:34:09.
For the women, it was Cedar Smith (1:28:53) coming in comfortable ahead of Greta Macey (1:33:51) for first.
Hailey Brind’Amour (1:34:33) managed to hold off Kerri Hickenbottom (1:34:57) for third.
