Wilson Chebet finished the marathon with a win, in a time of 02:15:35. Wilson waited the final miles to pull away from the leading group.
Paul Lonyangata took the second place in 02:16:04 and Geb Abraha the third in 02:16:27.
In the women’s race, Joyce Chepkirui, took the lead most of the race and finished with a wining time of 02:30:23. This is Joyce’s first marathon win.
The second place went to Lisa Nemec in 02:31:35, followed by Isabella Ochichi (02:32:22).
Despite the rain that was falling on the start line, 21,811 runners managed to cross the finish line in Kapiolani Park, keeping the Honolulu Marathon in the list of top marathons in the US and in the world.
