This will be the first edition of the race. Why was it created in the first place?

The event organiser Ken Dunne, is an avid marathon runner and a regular visitor to that part of the county and believes such a spectacular course should be shared with other runners, walkers or even tourists in general.

What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it?

The proposed route is a 26.2 mile loop leaving from Dingle Town, following the roads around the Dingle peninsula and finishing up in Dingle Town. The route will be certified by the Athletics Association of Ireland to make the marathon official.
How many runners do you expect on Saturday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract?

We are hoping to have 3000 participants, experienced runners, half marathon runners, walkers and of course charity runners and walkers as well.
Do you organize other races during the Week-End? If so, on what distances?

Not as yet.
At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect?

Weather should be perfect for sport, and to make the most of the course itself. Sunny and dry.
Have you planned festivities around the marathon?

We have lots of after course activities and events planned around the Dingle Marathon and everybody will be able to make the very most out of the event, and hopefully the week-end.
The marathon finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Dingle before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing?

There are many fantastic and rustic restaurants in Dingle an the Dingle Peninsula, sea food especially and the choices are endless. Sightseeing itself is in abundance and is breathtaking. All info on Dingle can be found on our website or the Failte Ireland website

.

In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of 42k195 to make them register for the Dingle Marathon?

The Dingle Marathon, challenge yourself to run one of the most breathtaking courses in the world, come for the marathon stay for the hospitality.
