This week we have a concise interview with Ed Schultze, the race director for the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail Marathon.
Hello, on March 6th 2010, you’ll be organizing the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail Marathon. Can you tell us where it is located?
Montgomery County Maryland on the Seneca Creek Trail.

How old is the race and why was it created in the first place?
This will be the seventh year. The race was created to showcase the very nice trail.
What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it?
Single track dirt trail with optional loop around Clopper Lake for the 50K option.
How many runners do you expect on Saturday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract?
We will close out at 350. We generally get a good mix of area runners and out of towners.
Do you organize other races during the Week-End? If so, on what distances?
No
At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect?
Weather is our big wild card. Runners should expect cold, icy, snowy, flood- like or hot, dry weather we have had it all. Prospective runners should read the race reports on the race website.
Have you planned festivities around the marathon?
We have a low key picnic at the end.
The marathon finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Damascus before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing?
Runners are close to Washington DC if they want to sight see.

This is a no frills, no awards, no fan fare, low key event, if you like that, fine.
