Ethiopia’s Haile Tolossa Bekuma won the marathon with a new PB of 2:12:29. This is the fastest marathon ever in Latvia and the third year in a row the record has been broken. Beyene Effa Soboka also from Ethipia took the second place with a time of 02:12:51. The third place went to Duncan Cheruiyot Koech from Kenya in 02:12:52. In the women’s race the victory also went to an Ethiopian runner, Meseret Eshetu with a time of 2:37:04, short of 13 seconds to set a new course record. Worknesh Tola Biru (Ethiopia) finished at the second pace in 02:42:07 and Ruth Wanjiru Kuria (Kenya) at the third place in 02:42:28. The date for he 2016 edition has already been set.
